A Little Kindness

I opened the YouTube page today and was not too surprised to find countless parodies of the recently very popular song "Oppa Gangnam Style'. Then I chanced upon a charming short video clip which is rather touching....

One of my favourite programs on Hypp TV, now that we've installed Unifi and discontinued our Astro subscription, is the American program called "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" which airs on Sundays at 1.15pm on Channel 140.

Each episode features a family that has faced some sort of recent or ongoing hardship such as a natural disaster or a family member with a life-threatening illness, in need of new hope. The show's producers coordinate with a local construction contractor, which then coordinates with various companies in the building trades for a makeover of the family's home. This includes interior, exterior and landscaping, performed in seven days while the family is on vacation (paid for by the show's producers) and documented in the episode. If the house is beyond repair, they replace it entirely. (excerp taken from Wikipedia)

Our family watch this show together and it never fails to bring tears when we watch the expressions of surprise, joy and gratitude on the faces of the featured family when they see their new home for the very first time.

I suppose everyone could do with a little kindness in the world today. I like this quote by Mother Teresa:

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.

If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”

Thanks for sharing Mother Teresa's quote. Truly meaningful. Kindness make the world go round.

Hi YuinTing,
Yes, we all can do our part to make this world a better place, if not for ourselves then for our children's generation.
