After our 3 days in Kuantan, we stayed one night at Genting View Resort. My kids asked why it was named Genting View, so I told them to look up....and they would get a view of Genting Highlands way up on the mountain top.
We checked in at around 1.30 pm and had a quick lunch in Gohtong Jaya. Then we saw the long queue of cars going up to Genting and decided not to drive up but to take the cable car instead.
At the cable car station we almost could not find a parking space, an indication of the large number of people who would be queueing up for the cable cars. We had 2 choices - queue for about 2 hours or buy the express tickets whereby we would not need to queue at all. Hubby bought the express tickets at RM12 each, for the 7 of us...and it was not a return ticket! The price for the normal tickets is only RM5!By the way, I absolutely detest cable car rides...there's something about being suspended in mid-air in a little bubble that makes my imagination run wild...but I survived the 15 minute journey without hyperventilating, so all was well.
The moment we stepped off the cable car, all we could see were just people, people and more people! We walked down to the Indoor Theme Park, then to First World Hotel and then to the entrance of the Outdoor Theme Park. There were long queues for every ride, much to my kids' disappointment. Then it began to rain and everyone from outdoors crammed into the already very crowded First World Hotel...not much fun at all.
Miss PreTeen decided to spend some time (and money, of course) at the Indoor Theme Park before going back to Genting View Resort. Had to queue to play some of the machines. After collecting about 150 tickets, she exchanged them for some stickers, a pen and a whistle.
This time we bought the normal RM5 tickets for the cable car ride down, and queued for about 45 minutes. Had dinner at Gohtong Jaya at one of the less crowded restaurants.
Back at Genting View Resort...the apartment was rather dusty and the tiled floor was sticky (eww!)
The next morning we had a dim sum breakfast at Gohtong Jaya (again!) and decided not to go up to Genting but instead take a look at the other attractions around. Went to the Gohtong Jaya Sports Complex and watched a lion dance performance. Crossed the road to the Strawberry Farm. Quite a nice place...there is also a vegetable garden and some small shops selling souvenirs, paintings and carvings, bags and ladies' clothes.
Checked out at 12 noon, bought some snacks at Mr Sotong shop at Gohtong Jaya and left for home. Saw vehicles queueing from the highway even before the turn-off to Genting Highlands

Wow! the traffic jam is pretty scary.
Very scary indeed...it's bumper to bumper all the way up to the top!
